Lombok to Komodo covers the eastward passage from Lombok through Sumbawa to Komodo National Park, with the sailing and overland realities most listings leave out.
What makes this crossing different
The Lombok–Komodo run is the classic open-deck sailing route, and it is the one most misrepresented online. It crosses two serious bodies of water, it is weather-dependent for a large part of the year, and the boats used range from well-found vessels to converted fishing hulls with a sun deck bolted on. Our pages separate those tiers explicitly, describe the overnight sleeping arrangements as they actually are, and state the months in which the passage is routinely cancelled. That is less flattering than a photo of a bow at sunset, and considerably more useful.
How we check the seasonal and safety picture
Seasonal viability is written from operators’ cancellation records and the Indonesian meteorological agency’s outlook, dated each season. Safety equipment counts, capacity and crew numbers are recorded per vessel. Park entry rules and fees follow the Komodo National Park authority. Where an operator will not confirm a lifejacket or liferaft count in writing, we do not list the boat.
