One-way crossing · Teluk Nara → Labuan Bajo · Apr–Nov sailing season

Open trip · shared boat

You buy a seat, not the boat.

A shared four-day, three-night crossing from East Lombok to Labuan Bajo on published sailing dates. Solo travellers, couples and small groups fill one boat between them, which is why it is the cheapest realistic way to reach the dragons on this route.

The route you share

The stops your ticket covers.

One boat, one crew, one itinerary, shared between everyone on board. Nobody on the boat is on a different trip from you.

Out of the Kayangan Harbour area in East Lombok, past Kenawa Island and into Saleh Bay, where whale shark snorkelling is seasonal.

How to book a seat

Four messages, then you sail.

  1. 01

    Send your travel week

Tell us the week you want and how many are joining. We reply with the confirmed departure dates around your window.

  2. 02

    Choose deck or cabin

Cabin stock is limited, often only three to six cabins per boat, and high-season cabins sell out weeks ahead.

  3. 03

    Pay a deposit

The deposit locks the seat and the balance is normally settled before departure. You get a written confirmation with meeting point, pickup time and packing notes.

  4. 04

Meet the boat in East Lombok

Most departures include or can arrange land transfer from Senggigi, Mataram or Kuta Lombok to the harbour.

Before you book

What shared-boat travellers ask.

All answered questions

How long is the open trip?

Four days and three nights, one-way, ending in Labuan Bajo. Some operators run a shorter 3D2N version with fewer stops.

Do open trip prices include National Park fees?

Usually not. Park entrance, trekking and ranger fees are collected separately, and the amounts have been revised more than once in recent years. Budget extra and confirm the current figure when you book.

When is the best season for the crossing?

April to November is the published sailing window, with three or four departures a month and the calmest seas of the year. Outside it the boat does not run this route.

Can I sail the route in reverse, from Labuan Bajo?

Yes. The same shared boats run the Flores to Lombok direction, which suits travellers who fly into Labuan Bajo first. Departure days differ from the Lombok-origin schedule, so check both when planning.

We are four or more. Is there a group rate?

Shared departures frequently discount blocks of seats, and past a certain group size it becomes cheaper to take a small private boat outright. We will tell you honestly where that line sits for your dates.
