One-way crossing · Teluk Nara → Labuan Bajo · Apr–Nov sailing season

Private charter · whole boat

Hire the hull. Set the date.

You take the entire vessel — crew, fuel, meals, cabins and itinerary — for one per-boat price instead of buying seats. Your group sails alone, leaves on the day you choose, and moves the stops around as it likes.

Charter versus shared

Four things change when the boat is yours.

On a shared departure the operator sets the calendar and fills the deck with other bookings. On a charter the boat is blocked for you, and the practical differences matter more than most people expect.

Date

You choose the departure day

A charter leaves on the day you pick — any day of the week, subject to boat availability and the captain's weather call — rather than on the published departure dates.

  • Any day
  • availability
  • weather call

Route

You choose the stops

Add, skip or extend: a half-day more at Padar for sunrise and sunset, a snorkelling-heavy run at Manta Point and Pink Beach, skip Moyo to reach the park faster, or stretch to 5D4N.

  • Padar sunrise
  • Manta Point
  • 5D4N

Privacy

The deck belongs to your group

Cabins, deck space and meal times are yours alone, which is why charters dominate honeymoon, family and company-trip bookings.

  • Honeymoons
  • families
  • company trips

Price

One quote for the hull

Two people pay the same base charter as ten, so the cost per head falls sharply as the group grows. We quote the boat, not the head count.

  • Per boat
  • not per seat

The group-size sweet spot is real: six to ten guests is the strongest value zone, where per-head cost drops near shared-trip levels with full privacy.

The fleet

Three tiers of hull.

Exact boats vary by date, but the tiers hold across the fleet. All three run the same core route: east Lombok, Moyo and Satonda, then into the National Park for Gili Lawa, Manta Point, Padar, Pink Beach and the dragons at Komodo or Rinca, ending in Labuan Bajo.

  • Standard deck boat

    6–14 guests

Mattresses on a covered deck or a simple shared cabin. Budget-minded friend groups who want the crossing and the islands, not luxury.

  • Cabin boat

    4–12 guests

Private air-conditioned cabins, some en-suite. Couples and families who want comfort at a mid-range per-boat price.

  • Deluxe phinisi

    8–20 guests

En-suite cabins, a dedicated chef and a larger crew. Honeymoons, milestone celebrations and corporate charters.

Travellers short on time sometimes pair a charter one way with a fast boat connection, or a flight out of Labuan Bajo back to Lombok or Bali.

How to charter

From your dates to the deck.

  1. 01

    Send dates and group size

With any priorities worth matching a boat to: cabins, food, snorkelling, a celebration.

  2. 02

    Receive matched boats

Usually two or three vessels, each with photos, cabin layouts and a per-boat quote.

  3. 03

    Hold the boat

A deposit blocks it for your dates; the balance is typically settled closer to departure.

  4. 04

    Finalise and board

Stops, timings, dietary needs and your Lombok pickup point, then board in east Lombok and step off in Labuan Bajo.

All answered questions

Is a charter worth it for just two people?

Often yes, if privacy is the point — honeymooners regularly charter a small cabin boat. If budget leads, a shared liveaboard cabin delivers the same route at a lower per-person cost, and we can quote both so you compare directly.

How far in advance should we book?

For July, August and year-end holidays, four to eight weeks ahead is sensible, because the best cabin boats and phinisi block out early. In shoulder months one to two weeks is usually enough, though last-minute charters depend entirely on fleet availability.

Is the crossing safe, and is there a best season?

The route crosses open water including the Sape Strait, so captains adjust timing and shelter stops to conditions and every itinerary is weather-dependent. April to November generally offers the calmest, driest sailing; August can bring stronger winds, and the wet season from roughly December to March brings more swell and rain.

Does the trip return to Lombok?

The standard charter is one-way, ending in Labuan Bajo, where most guests fly onward. A return sailing or a reverse Komodo-to-Lombok charter can be arranged on request at additional cost.
