One-way crossing · Teluk Nara → Labuan Bajo · Apr–Nov sailing season

Who runs the crossing

The operator, not a booking agent.

Every departure on this site is run by the phinisi team in partnership with Komodo Luxury, which handles reservations, guest care and on-water support. The people who confirm your itinerary are the people who brief the captain.

Before the boat leaves

What has to be cleared first.

As of 2026, every sailing on this route works inside Indonesia's standard maritime framework. Four things happen before a boat casts off, and none of them is optional.

Step 1

Port clearance

A sailing leaves Kayangan Harbour in East Lombok, or Labuan Bajo on the reverse run, only once the local harbourmaster has cleared it — the standard pre-departure check for passenger vessels in Indonesia.

  • Kayangan
  • Labuan Bajo

Step 2

Park permits

Komodo National Park entry and activity fees are arranged ahead of arrival, and the walks to see dragons on Komodo and Rinca are taken with licensed park rangers, as the park requires.

  • Komodo
  • Rinca

Step 3

Safety equipment

Life jackets for full guest capacity, life rings, fire extinguishers, first-aid supplies and marine communications, checked before every departure rather than once a season.

Step 4

Route judgment

Crossings through the Alas Strait, Saleh Bay and the currents around the park are timed to sea conditions. Captains move anchorages or reorder stops rather than force a fixed schedule.

  • Alas Strait
  • Saleh Bay

This is the operational layer beneath the itineraries described elsewhere on the site. Those pages describe the experience; this is who stands behind it.

One line of accountability

Three names, one team.

From your first message to the moment you step off the boat in Labuan Bajo, the same organisation answers for the trip. There is no handover to an unknown local supplier once payment clears.

Runs the vessels and the crew that sail the Lombok, Sumbawa and Flores corridor year-round.

  • Front of house

    Komodo Luxury

Handles reservations, guest care and on-water support for this route.

  • Since 2015

    Juara Holding Group

The parent group, working from Bali across Indonesia. It sails its own vessels rather than reselling third-party boats.

In day-to-day terms: the people who confirm your itinerary are the same organisation that briefs the captain, provisions the galley and answers the phone mid-voyage.

Fair questions

What people ask about us.

All 100 answered questions

Are you an operator or an agent?

An operator. The group sails its own vessels with its own crew rather than reselling third-party boats, which is why one team can answer for the itinerary, the captain and the galley.

Do you publish reviews or star ratings?

No. We deliberately do not put curated star ratings or edited testimonials on this site. If you want recent, unedited guest references or current-season photos before you commit, ask the desk — sharing them on request is standard practice.

Where does the crossing start and end?

Eastbound it boards at Kayangan Harbour in East Lombok and lands at Labuan Bajo on Flores. The reverse sails the same water the other way. Either way it is a one-way passage — nothing backtracks.

Who leads the walk to see the dragons?

Licensed park rangers, on Komodo or Rinca. That is a park requirement rather than an upgrade, and it applies to every operator inside the boundary.
